Coin Specifications

The obverse, or front side of the new dollar coins will feature the likeness of the Presidents of the United States in order of their terms of office beginning with George Washington. The series will commemorate Presidents who are no longer living and have been deceased for at least two years when the program ends in 2016. There will be two separate coins featuring President Grover Cleveland as he is the only President to have served two non-consecutive terms in office, making Cleveland the 22nd and the 24th President of the the US. The reverse or the rear side of the coins will feature this image of the Statue of Liberty. The coin will be made of the same metal, in terms of composition and weight as the Sacagawea Dollar coin is currently made. The Sacagawea Dollar will continue to be produced during the course of the Presidential Dollar Program. The Presidential Dollar coins are the first US coins made since 1933 that have lettering along the edge of the coin. The coins feature the words "E Pluribus Unum," "In God We Trust" and the date on the rim of the coin.
